New York State has enacted what is being referred to as the "Warehouse Worker Injury Reduction Program". S5081A
What does this mean?
Employers with 100+ employees at a warehouse distribution facility in NYS (or 1000+ employees spread across warehouse distribution facilities in NYS) need to implement an injury reduction program.
This act is meant to identify and eliminate sources of Musculoskeletal Injuries and Disorders among employees involved in Material Handling Tasks.
By June 2025, affected employers are expected to work with a qualified ergonomist on work site evaluations
Components of Injury Reduction Program:
Work site evaluations of jobs, tasks, and work activities for risk factors.
Methods to reduce risk factors for musculoskeletal injuries and disorders
Employee Training
Requirements for companies with on-site medical or first aid services
Employee Involvement
Scope Safety Management staff have proven success with ergonomic evaluations and improvements through Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH) work.
